Recycled opaque glass disc beads from Africa. Makes a unique decorative table accent for an on-trend decor statement. These rustic disc shape is very pretty and can be made into jewelry or used as-is.
The process of making these beads is unique to Ghana, Africa and has been used for over 1000 years. Pulverized glass of various colors are poured into a clay mold. A cassava stem is used for the bead's hole. The mold is placed in a wood-burning furnace and heated until the glass particles congeal without actually melting to a vitreous state. The craftsmen know exactly when to remove the bead molds and let them cool resulting in a beautiful set of beads. Repurposing-recycling at its best.
