White Mud Cloth Fabric in a lighter weight, washed and ready to use mud cloth throw from Mali, Africa, Oyster color mud cloth

Sorry, this item has sold.

This is a lighter weight natural mud cloth. It has a lovely textured appearance without the bulkier weight of my standard white mud cloth. This weight would be as a throw, window covering, or for apparel.

Mud cloth, also called bogolan, is an African handmade textile. Cotton is handwoven into narrow strips then sewn together to make a wider cloth. White mud cloth is not truly white, but rather a soft oyster white or ivory color.

What size is it?
Authentic African mud cloth is not available by the yard. Mud cloth is sold in large pieces. Each piece is approximately 62 inches long x 40 inches wide. (160 cm x 100 cm) Also known as “Lapa” size. Size of individual pieces will vary due to the hand made nature of the cloth.

What should I expect?
Mud cloth is a handmade textile and each piece is one of a kind. Imperfections in mud cloth should be expected. Uneven weaves, slubs, stitching flaws, and plant fibers are part of their charm. Length ends are raw edges,

How do I care for the textile?
I recommend washing in the delicate cycle and tumble dry when needed. My available pieces have already been laundered for you. Natural color mud cloth can be bleached to lighten the shade.

This is an awesome piece. I needed a wrap skirt to go with a loom-woven BouBou that I am acquiring from Nigeria. The size is just right. I was also happy that it was located in the U.S., and the price was affordable. Thank you
