Stunning vintage African Aso Oke Textiles. Listing is for one of two available.
My photos don’t capture its beauty! Excellent vintage condition. These are a type of ceremonial cloth from Yoruba, Africa.
This type of celebratory textile is often repurposed into designer pillow covers. Woven in narrow strips that are joined to make one larger cloth. Eyelet details add surface interest.
The colors are taupe cotton and burnished gold lurex with soft light golden color rayon topstitching that creates the tribal geometric patterns. Great look for a neutral space that could use a touch of soft gold.
Measures 77 to 80 inches long.
Select width 28 inches or 41 inches from menu.
A hand crafted piece of African Aso Oke cloth like this will yield loads of pillow covers, or use for upholstery, or on the foot of a bed. Crisp cotton hand with heavier areas where the rayon is stitched. Good medium weight with eyelet details and surface loops.
***As with many vintage textiles that have been in use, this African cloth has some wear-n-tear. Please examine photos.
Cotton base cloth with rayon topstitched detail and gold lurex in small stripes.
